Derek + Nicole, Finch Arboretum Engagement, Spokane Wedding Photographer

I loved these guys from the moment we met!  They are both so calm and serene around each other.  Derek has the amazing ability to stay on a roof in the winter time (he’s a roofer) plus he’s an avid hunter who just got his lifetime moose this year!  I knew Nicole was super nice, but it wasn’t until the session at Finch, when the sun started going down and the temperature dropped, that I realized that she is really tough, too!  Goosebumps and all, she was ready and willing to stay a few more minutes (I kept saying that, and we kept getting shots) until I felt we were finished.  Their wedding is going to be a blast at the beautiful Hayden Country Club.

Jake, Spokane Senior Photographer

I got to meet Jake on Wednesday, and then see him again on Thursday for his grad session.  Very cool guy!  He loves soccer, playing as defender on his team.  He watches movies when he can, but he is a strong supporter of all kinds of different school sports.  In fact, even though he had a good time shooting with me, he was eager to get back to Spokane (we shot in Coeur d’Alene) to cheer on the volleyball team right after.  Here are a few of my favorites, especially the pics with the sunglasses.  A special thanks goes out to Jake’s sister for helping me keep things going smoothly and carrying Jake’s stuff.  You’re both incredible!

Spokane Bridal Festival, Spokane Wedding Photographer

It is almost time for the Fall Bridal Festival, in Spokane! I have had fun getting ready with lots of great prints and albums to show. It’s always fun to meet new brides, and it’s also great to visit with other vendors. If you decide to go (I would encourage you to go!) be sure to check out Cakes by Stefanie with her beautiful, delicious cakes. Also, my booth will be decorated with the amazing flowers of Erica’s Expressions. The two runway shows planned will be stunning if they are anything like last January’s shows! I am currently in California, and I won’t be back to Idaho until Thursday — just in time to gather all my things and get the AiP booth ready. How exciting! If you haven’t been to one of these Festivals, you are in for a treat! And be sure to stop by and say hi!

Micah & Sara, Coeur d’Alene Wedding Photographer, Elk Point

Micah & Sara had such a beautiful engagement shoot, that I knew the wedding would be just gorgeous — and it was!  THEY were gorgeous, to be more exact.  Micah looks like he’s from a rock music cover, and Sarah a fashion model.  Oh, and check out the pics of their cute little girl, too!  They made a wise choice in booking Elk Point as their venue, with its breathtaking views.  The owners are so helpful and kind, which helps so much with a day as important as your wedding day is.  Oh, and here’s something that made their day even more memorable — they had a real live dove release during their ceremony!  Capturing an entire wedding day is so much more than just walking around with a nice camera.  It is knowing where to be.  It is knowing the proper exposure.  It is know where the light is, and how that relates to where you are and where they are.  It’s composing your shot so that it has interest.  It is seeing the beauty and knowing how to capture it just right.  Keep this in mind when choosing your wedding photographer.  If you want to go cheap, it may be best just to let uncle Bob take the pics and spend your money elsewhere.  If you want the day captured so that the images will take your breath away, pay for a good photographer.  You won’t regret it.  Here is a pretty good sample of what I captured on this magical day.

Haily, Class of 2012, Rathdrum Senior Photography

Haily is an awesome senior, and it was a blast shooting her pics.  Her sister, Taylor, also hung out with us and even helped me out throughout the shoot (thanks!!).  They are both so fun and photogenic, that the session was a blast!  For this shoot, we did some roving around, so you’ll notice the different settings in many of the pics.  It’s nice when you can get it all in one location, but it’s also fun to move around a bit and get lots of variety.  Here’s to your senior year, Haily — I hope it’s an incredible one!

I also captured a few images of Haily with her sisters, and a shot of her sister, Taylor, by herself for facebook

Laurel, Coeur d’Alene Senior Photography

Laurel, her mom and I spent a late afternoon/early evening together in Hayden.  Laurel is so kind and friendly, that it would be difficult to not have a good time shooting her pics!  Full of smiles and laughter, we shot first in a pole building with tons of hay bales, then moved on to a farm out near the water at the lake.  I always scout out my locations ahead of time, and I had a few chuckles of my own as I was stared down by a llama and a pigmy ram.  Thinking back, I wish I had taken some pics of those guys, too!  Anyway, here’s some of my faves from the day.

Micah & Sara, Spokane Engagement

These two were really fun to shoot — they are really down-to-earth.  They love to watch movies (so do I) so they were able to give me a few suggestions on what’s good out there.  They made these suggestions as we began to climb the tall and narrow staircase, which isn’t the easiest thing to do if you look straight down (or hang over the rail with your camera, like I did).  Fortunately, the only thing that plummeted to a sure demise was my cell phone (which actually survived!).  Micah & Sara are from Spokane, but we decided to shoot their engagement session in beautiful downtown Coeur d’Alene, where we have a mix of urban and beach scenery.  While I love the old buildings, I must say that I still have a certain love for that gorgeous beach, and it only gets better when you add a couple like these two into the frames!  Here’s a sample of what I captured with Micah & Sarah.

Hilary, Portrait Session

Hilary and I headed out for a bit to go get some new shots with this ultra cool dress we found at Hoop Fest.  Had my son won his second game, we wouldn’t have had to stick around in Spokane, and Hil wouldn’t have seen this dress.  So, of course it was sad that my son’s team lost a game, but at the same time — glad we found this dress!  Of course, Hilary makes any dress look great.

Jake & Katie Wedding, Clark House

We were a little disappointed when it rained nearly all day, and the venue was the beautiful Clark House with all the beautiful outdoor settings, but it turned out beautiful just the same.  Jake and Katie were ready and had no Big Day jitters at all!  They were wonderful, as were their families, and also the staff at the Clark House, for making an indoor wedding a great substitute for what had been planned as an outdoor wedding.  I look forward to shooting more events at the Clark House.  Jake and Katie — thank you for choosing AiP to capture the day for you both!  It was magical!
